Valerian is a medicinal plant from the family valerian. It is a tall perennial with pinnate leaves and dense inflorescence of small white or pinkish flowers. The whole plant smells characteristically. It occurs at lower altitudes throughout the Czech Republic. Valerian is used as a medicinal plant and is grown.
