Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is a perennial plant that belongs to the pea family and we know it well under the names lucinka or Lucerne. Devotees of a healthy diet know their seeds, which are perfect for sprouting like alfalfa. Alfalfa grown already in the Persian empire, where it got into ancient Rome and Greece.

Alfalfa contains many minerals, proteins and amino acids. Seeds, sprouts and leaves contain proteins, fatty acids, vitamins E, C and K, folic acid, calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium and silicon. They have a slightly bitter taste with undertones of hazelnut and are an excellent example of the bread with butter.
