Schizandra, also known as clanoprache, is a perennial woody liana that can grow up to 10 metres tall. It is native to the Far East. The greatest concentration of active substances is found in the leaves and fruits. Schizandra is one of the plants whose constituents are well studied and have been used since time immemorial for their beneficial effects on the human body. The fruits contain many organic compounds, vitamin C, rutin-like substances, as well as anthocyanins and carbohydrates.
