Narrow-leaved willow is a perennial, sturdy plant with a stem up to 1 m tall. The flowers are deep purple in colour and form a sparse cluster. It is a light-loving plant of strips and woodland edges. The plant is mainly used for its leaves, which are processed into tea blends or, more recently, into effective tinctures. It contains gallotannin, triterpenes, pectin, alkaloids and vitamin C.

The effects of willow have been widely described, e.g. in traditional Russian herbaria. Willow helps in gaining mental and physical balance and in inducing optimal relaxation. It facilitates the course of the menstrual cycle, relieves unpleasant menopausal symptoms. It helps to maintain the normal function of the prostate gland, supports the preservation of flexibility and mobility of joints.
